Implementation of the Critical Skills List (2022) - Transitional Arrangements

TRANSITIONAL ARRANGEMENTS: i. Applicants must meet prescribed requirements of the 2022 List. ii. Applications submitted before 31 January 2022 processed under 2014 List terms. iii. No new 2014 List applications from 1 February 2022 (except those with prior appointments). iv. 2014 List visa holders may apply for permanent residence from date they qualify. v. Critical Skills visa IS a work visa - DHA will no longer issue 12-month job search visas. All applications must be supported by a solid offer of employment. POST-QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE: Applicants referencing post-qualification experience (Regulation 24(4)(b)) should submit additional proof of vetted working experience verified by reputable institutions such as MIE (www.mie.co.za) or Sterling (www.sterlingcheck.com/services/global-checks/). WITHDRAWALS: 1. Withdrawal of Ministerial Waiver (2005): Exemption from requirements to expedite work permits for newly recruited foreign health professionals. 2. Withdrawal of Immigration Directive 22 of 2014: Confirmation of skills or qualifications as supporting documents for critical skills visa. 3. Withdrawal of Ministerial Waiver (2016): Granting of Permanent Residence under Section 27(b) for graduates from South African Tertiary Institutions in the area of Critical Skills.
